Swim 24 hours

A huge thank you for my supporters in the 2015 Sydney 24 Hour Mega Swim! They have personally helped make a difference to the lives of many people living with multiple sclerosis, like my colleague and captain Michael.

So far I have fundraised $565.00 in support of people living with multiple sclerosis. This has only been made possible through their generosity in supporting such a worthwhile cause.

Here are some details about my challenge: my roster was between midnight and 6:00AM. I swam 7.1 amazing kms... that's way beyond my target and goals. The longest I knew I could swim was just over 2 kms, which I did only last week !!

At 6:00AM the next shift arrived. I ended helping another team "the Rotary Club" whom captain was on his own for the whole night. He swam 16kms... To help him achieve his team's goal, I swam an extra km which I tried to speed up as I knew it was my last one !!

Swimming with my knee (PCL reconstruction) and an injured hand (by knocking the lane separator several times), getting no sleep during an entire night, that's a good training for the Ironman, I am mentally ready.

My personal learnings after this event:

1/I can swim longer than 2 kms! If you're committed, you can achieve the unachievable.

2/I am more aware of the MS disease and I'm thankful for the life I have today.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system affecting more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition. All funds raised go directly to providing services and assistance to people living with multiple sclerosis.
